The Southern New England Honors Band auditions are due by Friday (in electronic format), so that I can submit them to URI. If you auditioned for All-State, I'd like to see you audition for this ensemble as well - the conductor, Dr. Harlan Parker from the Peabody Conservatory of Music, is renowned, and I fully expect it to be an amazing weekend of music. If you are in grades 10-12, you are eligible. Read the requirements carefully: 3 scales (your choice on those as long as: 1= sharp, 1= flat, 1= chromatic), and some short etudes (using your All-State piece is a great idea). The audition is a little less intense than All-State, and selection in part comes from MY recommendation as well. Though it says to record a tape or CD, I have received permission to submit MP3's by email. You can record yourself on your smartphone at home and email ME the tracks, or use school equipment to record (Tue, Wed or Thurs). I'll forward your forms and recordings to URI on Friday.
