2019 EWG All-State Audition Times

posted Nov 18, 2019, 5:10 AM by Gregg Charest

Please see the appropriate attachments for RI All State Audition times, being held this Saturday, 23 November 2019 at the Moses Brown School in Providence, RI.

The schedule includes a room number for each audition along with a time.  I've attached a campus map detailing where are the audition rooms are located (and it also includes driving directions).  Students should show up at their room 15 minutes before their audition time, and make sure to have their adjudication form with them (attached below for your convenience).

I am unable to offer a bus to auditions this year because as a member of the RIMEA executive board (new for 2019), I am required to be on-site for the entire day, unable to ride a bus to/from the school.  I'm sorry for inconvenience.

Please let me know if you're struggling to find a ride to Moses Brown, and I will try to carpool you together (feel free to organize your own carpooling, as well).

As always, please email me immediately with any questions or concerns.

Please see the attachments for the 2019 EWG All-State audition schedule.  We have a RECORD number of auditions this year, and I'm curious to know if having a school bus would help parents on the day of auditions.  Please fill out this form to let me know if you would prefer to have transportation provided!

EWG Fight Song

posted Oct 5, 2018, 5:00 AM by Gregg Charest   [ updated Oct 5, 2018, 5:03 AM ]

It is a tradition that schools have a "fight song," a song to rally around when our students are competing at events.  The EWG HS Band has played through 25 songs to arrive at these three - please vote for your favorite!  The winning song will need LYRICS, which an EWG student will be tasked with writing once we've settled on a song.

It's worth mentioning that we will change the name of the song once we've chosen our favorite.  It's expensive and time consuming to have an original fight song written for us, and it's common for High Schools to use a college fight song as their own.

Choose wisely - this is a once in a lifetime opportunity!  Here are your choices:

NYC Bronx Tale Trip

posted Nov 15, 2017, 9:20 AM by Gregg Charest   [ updated Nov 15, 2017, 9:21 AM ]

On Wednesday, April 25, 2018, the EWG Music Department will travel to New York City to attend a performance of “A Bronx Tale” at the Longacre Theatre.  Tickets for this performance are available on a first come, first served basis, and cost $165.00 each.  This includes bus transportation/driver tip to and from New York, and tickets in the balcony level.  New this year: this price INCLUDES DINNER at the Hard Rock Café near Times Square.

To secure your place on the trip, a deposit of $90 is due starting on TUESDAY, November 14, but no later than WEDNESDAY, November 29, 2017.  You are welcome to pay for the entire trip at once (it certainly makes life easier for me), and may also choose to apply your band/chorus fundraiser money towards this trip.  An up to date list of account balances will be posted on the band and chorus websites shortly. All checks should be made out to: P.O.P.S.   We prefer that you please send your deposit into school with students, who will then give it to Mr. Charest. Remember, first come, first served!  Our New York trips sell out year after year, and we expect this year to be no different.

We are in need of 1 chaperone for every 5 students who attend this trip (25 chaperones in all), so all parents are certainly welcome (and must fill out and pass the district’s background check).  Chaperones should also send a $90.00 deposit at this time.

If you have financial concerns and require scholarship money, we may be able to help.  Please email Mr. Charest (Gregg_Charest@ewg.k12.ri.us) or Mr. Runner (Ronald_Runner@ewg.k12.ri.us) immediately.

A more detailed itinerary will be sent out once your place on the trip is confirmed.  I hope you are excited and able to attend!
